Arsenal booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a tense 0-0 draw against Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium, progressing 1-0 on aggregate.

Mikel Arteta’s side came into the second leg holding a narrow lead from the first meeting in Portugal, secured by Kai Havertz’s late winner.

Despite a bright start in front of their home supporters, Arsenal struggled to convert possession into clear-cut chances, while Sporting posed the greater threat in the first half.

Francisco Trincao and Pedro Goncalves both tested Arsenal’s defensive resolve, while a lapse from goalkeeper David Raya gifted the visitors another opening.

Sporting came closest to breaking the deadlock when Geny Catamo struck the post from close range following a delivery from Maxi Araujo.
