This week Crissle is answering your questions LIVE! Today’s caller is a Black woman from Canada who is struggling to navigate difficult conversations with her white husband about race, politics and the treatment of Black people. Whenever she tries to express how current events and social issues impact her as a Black woman, she feels like her husband becomes defensive, dismissive or unwilling to fully understand her perspective. During one of their conversations, he also admitted that if they were American, he likely would’ve voted for Trump. As the tension continues growing in their marriage, the caller is starting to question what it means for their future together and whether their relationship can survive such major differences in understanding and empathy. Crissle answers how to navigate interracial relationships, communicate through defensiveness and what it looks like to feel emotionally safe, heard and supported within a marriage.
