Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the country will be better off if the president is given more time to complete his reforms.

Speaking during a recent interview with journalists, Musa said many of the challenges Nigerians are experiencing stem from problems that were neglected for years and are now being addressed through difficult but necessary decisions.

“If he could have done this in three years, imagine if he has four or five additional years to finish. We need Nigerians to understand that a lot of things that were left out are what he is tackling. He is taking very bold action,” he stated.

The Defence Chief acknowledged that the reforms may be painful in the short term but insisted that the country would eventually reap the benefits.

Drawing a comparison with childbirth, Musa said difficult moments often come before joy and that Nigerians should remain patient as the government continues its programmes.

“When you take bold action, there will be difficulty at the beginning, but at the end of it, it’s just like a woman that is pregnant. Immediately she delivers, she’ll be joyful. What we are going through is making us stronger, and we are going to come out better,” he added.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing that reforms require time, while others argued that citizens are more concerned about the immediate economic hardship and insecurity crisis facing the country.

Musa maintained that Nigerians should continue to support the president, expressing confidence that the country would be in a much better position if the current administration is allowed to complete its agenda.
