Actress and media personality Temi Otedola has sparked conversations online after openly describing herself as a “nepo baby” while discussing privilege and family connections.

Speaking on a recent episode of The How Far Podcast with her husband, Mr Eazi, Temi said she has no intention of denying the advantages she was born into.

According to the actress, being privileged extends beyond fame and includes growing up in a financially stable home with access to quality education, food and opportunities that many people do not enjoy.

Using a hypothetical example, she explained that parents with influence could easily introduce their child to a music producer or finance a music video, creating opportunities that others may never have.

Temi Otedola explains her stance on nepotism

Temi said, “So this is my take on it. You don’t have to be famous to be privileged. I feel like privilege is purely growing up in a circumstance where your parents made a certain amount of money, you didn’t have to struggle, and you had access to education, food and a foundation in life that not everybody gets”

Mr Eazi also agreed, saying he had benefited from opportunities created by the hard work of those before him.

    Conversation fuels online debate

Temi, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, stressed that acknowledging privilege does not erase personal effort or achievement.

Her remarks have since generated discussions on social media, with many Nigerians debating whether successful public figures should be more open about the advantages they enjoy while others praised her honesty.
