Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and renowned cricket commentator Ian Bishop will become the first recipients of the newly established Caribbean Premier League Hall of Fame. Bravo will be recognized as the first player inducted, while Bishop will enter in the non-player category for his contribution to the tournament since its launch in 2013. The Trinidadians will be officially honored on Sept. 15 at a Hall of Fame gala at The Hilton Hotel in Barbados. At 42, Dwayne Bravo is being honored for a remarkable 18-year T20 career that produced more than 15 titles worldwide, including two T20 World Cups with West Indies and multiple IPL championships. The all-rounder was the first bowler to reach 500 T20 wickets and ranks third on the CPL’s all-time wicket-taking list with 129. He is also the CPL’s most accomplished player, winning five titles as a player and a sixth as head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders in 2025. Bravo said he was honored to be the first member of the CPL Hall of Fame. “It’s a real honour to be the first player inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame. This tournament has been a huge part of my career, and I will always treasure every title I’ve won here. “I’ve played cricket all over the world, but there’s nothing like playing at home. CPL is a true celebration of Caribbean culture and the game,” Bravo said. Meanwhile, former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has earned widespread recognition for his passionate and energetic commentary. His enthusiasm for cricket and the CPL has played an important role in the tournament’s growth, while Bishop said he was honored to give back to the sport that had a major influence on his life. “Cricket has given me so much, and commentary has allowed me to give something back to a game and a region I love deeply. To be inducted into this inaugural CPL Hall of Fame class, and to be recognised for the stories I’ve had the privilege of telling, is an honour I’ll carry with me always. “This tournament has always represented something bigger than the sport itself; it’s a stage for Caribbean talent, culture, and pride, and I’m grateful to have had a courtside seat to its history,” Bishop said. The gala will unite some of the biggest names in West Indies cricket to celebrate the CPL’s regional impact and success. Proceeds will support the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness and improve prostate cancer testing across the Caribbean.
