    A student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) has been praised online after returning N90,000 that was mistakenly transferred to her bank account.

    The incident was shared by a Nigerian man who explained how the transfer error occurred while he was making a payment to a technician.

    According to him, the technician had sent an incorrect Opay account number, leading to the money being credited to another person.

    Transfer error leads to unexpected recipient

    The man said he completed the transfer without carefully verifying the account name because the amount involved did not initially raise concerns.

    He later discovered the mistake after the technician informed him that one of the digits in the account number had been entered incorrectly.

    In his account of the incident, the man said: “A technician made a mistake while sending his Opay account to me yesterday.”

    He explained that they subsequently reached out to the actual recipient of the funds, who turned out to be a student.

    Student returns funds without delay

    According to the man, the recipient responded positively and refunded the entire amount shortly after being contacted.

    We contacted the actual recipient who was very apologetic and understanding. This young lady, a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, swiftly refunded the N90k to the technician.”

    To show appreciation for her honesty, the man said he sent her N10,000 as a token of gratitude.

    “I had to send her N10k for ‘breakfast’ to appreciate her kindness and honesty.”

    The story has attracted positive reactions on social media, with many users commending the student for returning money that did not belong to her.

    The incident has also renewed discussions about honesty, accidental bank transfers, and the importance of verifying account details before completing transactions.
