The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has responded to viral claims surrounding its General Overseer, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, addressing allegations that he cancelled a planned protest and has been silent on national issues.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 2 via the church’s public relations page, RCCG said its leader has been misrepresented through what it described as false narratives and agenda-driven commentary.

The church also denied claims that Pastor Adeboye supported or campaigned for any political administration, insisting he has remained neutral

Clarification on Protest and PFN Directive

RCCG dismissed reports that Pastor Adeboye cancelled any planned protest linked to insecurity concerns.

According to the church, the situation was misinterpreted, and what was communicated was an instruction from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), not a protest cancellation.

    The statement read:

Pastor Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the three-day prayer programme in a centralised venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria.”

The church added that the adjustment applied across PFN-affiliated churches and was not a personal decision by the cleric.

    Response to Political Allegations

RCCG also addressed claims that Pastor Adeboye had aligned with or campaigned for the current government, describing the allegation as false.

It stated that the cleric has consistently maintained political neutrality and encourages members to make their own electoral choices.

“Pastor Adeboye has always encouraged members of the church to get their PVCs and vote for anyone of their choice; he has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties as members of the church are members of various political parties.”

Position on National Issues and Insecurity

The church rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye has remained silent on national challenges such as insecurity and economic hardship.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and not the Commander of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He can only ask his members to join in prayers and convey instructions given by CAN/PFN with no direct influence over the Army.”

The church urged the public to verify information before sharing and warned against misrepresenting statements attributed to its leader.
