Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has reacted to rumours suggesting a fallout between him and popular filmmaker Funke Akindele.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Pidgin, he clarified that there is no issue between them, stressing that what people see online is largely based on social media speculation.“Nothing really happened between me and Madam Funke, and I am not aware of any fallout. Social media likes constructing their own script, and when they are done, they start looking for people to fill in the character they want,” he said.

He further explained that their relationship did not begin on social media and therefore cannot be defined or ended by online narratives.

According to him, growth in the movie industry sometimes comes with changes in relationships, which are often misunderstood as conflict.

“Our relationship didn’t start on social media, so it’s not on social media it will end. There are some growths in life that will cost you some relationships, and it may look like it’s lost in transit, but that’s not how it is,” he added.

Makinde also noted that at the time of his wedding, Funke Akindele was occupied with her movie project, which explained her absence.

He further revealed that his journey in the film industry was largely shaped by her influence.

The speculations began after his wedding last December, where Funke Akindele was noticeably absent during the ceremony.
