Cesc Fabregas has played down speculation linking him with the Chelsea job, insisting he remains committed to Como amid growing interest in his managerial progress.

The former Spain international has emerged as one of Europe’s most talked-about young coaches after guiding Como to promotion in 2024 and establishing them as a competitive force in Serie A.

Fabregas distances himself from Chelsea role

Recent reports suggested Fabregas could be a candidate to replace Liam Rosenior at Chelsea following inconsistent results.

However, the 38-year-old made it clear he is not considering a move at this stage.

“I am very committed to this project. You never know, but right now I think it’s very unlikely I’ll leave Como,” Fabregas said.

“I’m very happy with what we’ve been able to achieve. This is an important project.”

Fabregas also highlighted personal stability as a key factor in his decision-making, adding: “It’s important that my family is happy, and if they’re happy in Como, I’ll stay.”

    Rising profile attracts elite interest

Fabregas’ work has not gone unnoticed. Como are currently pushing for a European place and remain in contention in the Coppa Italia, a significant overachievement for a club with limited recent top-flight pedigree.

Former Italy defender Marco Materazzi recently urged Chelsea to consider Fabregas as a long-term option, citing his ability to manage young players and build a cohesive system.

Despite the external noise, Como’s hierarchy remain supportive, acknowledging that interest from elite clubs is a natural consequence of success.

    Chelsea maintain stance on Rosenior

Chelsea, meanwhile, are understood to retain confidence in Rosenior despite a mixed run of results. The club’s leadership continues to back the long-term project, with the manager under contract until 2032.
