    A man has shared how a recipient of a mistakenly transferred ₦50,000 demanded ₦20,000 before agreeing to return the money, only for the transaction to be reversed by the sender’s bank.

    According to the man, he accidentally sent the money to the wrong Opay account after entering an incorrect digit while making the transfer.

    He immediately called the recipient to explain the mistake, but the man initially denied receiving the funds before later admitting that the money had entered his account.

    Recipient demanded ₦20,000 before refund

    The sender said the recipient insisted on keeping ₦20,000 as his “share” before returning the balance, a demand that left him shocked.

    While still trying to recover the money, he contacted his bank, UBA, reported the mistaken transfer and provided the transaction reference for investigation.

    The man said, “I was trying to send 50k to someone’s Opay, I got a digit wrongly and mistakenly sent to another person”

    The account has since generated reactions on social media, with many users praising the sender for returning the recipient’s money despite his earlier conduct.

    Others said the incident highlights the importance of verifying account details before completing bank transfers and promptly reporting mistaken transactions to financial institutions.
