A woman has sparked conversations online after sharing a story about a bride who allegedly cut off her close friends shortly after her wedding, only to seek financial help months later.

Wedding bond broken after marriage decision

The story, shared via social media, detailed how the bride’s friends had shown strong support during her wedding in February last year, with one reportedly traveling from abroad and taking time off work to attend the ceremony.

My cousin’s best friend got married in February last year. All her girls showed up for her. One of them even took a week off work abroad just to attend. Two days later, she left their group chat. When they called her, she said her husband told her to cut off single friends because they’ll advise her wrongly,” the lady said.

    Financial request sparks rejection

According to the narrator, the situation took a different turn recently when the same woman reportedly reached out through a mutual contact, asking the friends she had distanced herself from to contribute money after her husband lost his job. The request, however, was declined.

Last week, she sent a message through my cousin asking those same girls to contribute money for her because her husband lost his job and things are hard. They refused. Now she’s on WhatsApp saying people take small things too personal. You don’t get to burn bridges and still expect baby girl treatment,” she added.

Similar incidents of friendship fallouts tied to marriage dynamics have surfaced online in recent years, highlighting ongoing debates around loyalty, boundaries, and influence in relationships.
