    Breakups are hard af. They are hard if you’re the one who initiated the split. They’re hard when you’re the one who got “left”. They’re certainly hard when young children are involved. But they are also challenging to navigate with adult offspring. And they can be tough with no children at all. Couples with millions of dollars in assets to divvy up and those who barely have a houseplant between them can find the breaking up process tumultuous. And we now openly acknowledge that friendship breakups are no less painful than romantic ones.

    If you live long enough, you’re likely to experience at least one of these types of soul-shattering breakups. We thug it out in the privacy of our own homes, on a trusted friend’s couch or maybe even in a dark, nondescript café or bar where no one really recognizes us and we can cry, reflect (or rejoice) in peace.
