Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is expected to leave Inter Milan this summer, with a structured transfer agreement in place that could still leave the door open for a future return.

The 21-year-old midfielder has struggled to break into Inter’s first team, making just one senior appearance since joining the club three years ago.

Loan spells have defined his development pathway, including stints with Sampdoria and most recently Pisa.

    Pisa activate purchase option

Pisa are moving to secure Akinsanmiro on a permanent basis after activating a €7 million clause in his loan agreement. Despite suffering relegation, the club has opted to retain the Nigerian.

He featured regularly during the campaign, making 22 league appearances, with 13 starts, and maintained a consistent role in midfield despite the team’s struggles.

    Inter retain strategic control

As part of the deal structure, Inter have inserted an €8 million buy-back clause, effectively maintaining strategic leverage over the player’s future.

This clause signals internal belief in Akinsanmiro’s development ceiling, even as he exits the immediate first-team picture at San Siro.

The arrangement allows Inter to reassess and potentially reintegrate him if his performance improves.

    International profile growing

At international level, Akinsanmiro has begun to integrate into the Nigeria national team setup. He was included in the squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, although he did not feature, and has already made his senior debut in a friendly against Egypt.
