Three Jamaican students have achieved a milestone that many young game developers only dream about. Their video game, Bubblexity, was officially released on Steam on April 27, 2026, placing their work on one of the world’s largest digital gaming platforms.

The team behind the project consists of Derryk MacGregor, Jordan Thompson Pamba, and Chad Wilson. Together, they formed BChaotic, a game development company that combines programming, art, and music to create original games.

Their journey to Steam did not happen overnight. According to the team, years of practice, learning, and participation in game development events helped prepare them for the release of their first commercial title.

    Building Skills Through Game Development

Derryk MacGregor, 20, serves as the lead programmer and co founder of BChaotic. He has been programming and creating games since 2016.

MacGregor said his interest in game development started during primary school when he spent time playing video games and learning how they were made. After years of research and practice, he created his first game in 2016.

Jordan Thompson Pamba, 17, is the team’s lead artist and animator. His interest in game design started with drawing, animation, and creating simple games using educational software. He also spent time designing levels and mini games in Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker, an experience that helped shape his current role in game design.

Chad Wilson, 20, handles music, sound effects, and audio programming. His interest in game development came from wanting to understand how games worked behind the scenes. Alongside his passion for coding, he developed his musical skills and began creating soundtracks for game concepts and projects.

The team also credits game jams for helping them improve their skills. MacGregor has participated in eight game jams, Thompson Pamba in seven, and Wilson in two.

    The Formation of BChaotic

BChaotic was founded in 2021 by MacGregor and Thompson Pamba. Wilson joined the group in 2024.

The team explained that several people joined and left the company during its early years. Different names were also considered before the group finalized both its team structure and company name in 2025.

Today, BChaotic consists of three core members. MacGregor leads programming, Thompson Pamba oversees artwork and animation, and Wilson creates the music and sound design.

    Bubblexity Makes Its Steam Debut

The company’s first release, Bubblexity, is described as a dimension hopping puzzle game.

The launch marked the completion of a goal that MacGregor and Thompson Pamba had worked toward for five years. By combining their individual skills and bringing Wilson’s audio expertise into the project, the team was able to complete and publish the game on Steam.

Steam, developed by Valve, is one of the largest digital distribution platforms for PC gaming. It provides developers with access to a global audience and hosts tens of thousands of games from both major studios and independent creators.

For many independent developers, having a game accepted and published on Steam represents an important step in reaching players worldwide.

Strong Achievements Inside and Outside Gaming

The members of BChaotic have also built impressive records in academics and other fields.

Thompson Pamba graduated fifth form at Jamaica College as the top student in his class and earned top marks in Visual Arts. His academic results include distinctions in several Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate subjects, including Visual Arts, Biology, English, Information Technology, and Mathematics.

Wilson is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Music Studies at the University of the West Indies. He is also a self taught musician who has earned awards in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission piano competition.

MacGregor is pursuing a degree in Animation at the University of Technology. He holds certifications in Animation and Game Design, as well as two game design certifications from Ubisoft. He has also taught robotics programming and helped coach the Jamaica College robotics team.

    Music Expands Beyond the Game

Bubblexity is not only a gaming project. The game’s soundtrack, created by Wilson, is also available through Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Bandcamp, and Steam.

The team hopes that listeners who discover the music will become interested in the game and follow future projects from BChaotic.

    Looking Ahead

While Bubblexity is the first game released by BChaotic, the team says additional projects are already in development.

For MacGregor, Thompson Pamba, and Wilson, the Steam release represents the result of years of learning, collaboration, and persistence. It also places a group of young Jamaican creators on a platform used by millions of gamers around the world.

As BChaotic continues to develop new titles, these three Jamaica College students have already shown that local talent can create and publish games that reach an international audience.
