Baltimore, MD - To salute National Farmers Market Week (August 2 - 8), Create Baltimore, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (MOACE), intends to honor it with greater intention than ever before. On SUNDAY, AUGUST 2, the Baltimore Farmers’ Market will commemorate National Farmers Market Week with live performances from David Lindberg and DJ Daveology, farm-to-table cooking demos, restaurant pop-ups, and more.

National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation's food system. Through special events, activities, and community engagement, the week raises awareness of the value farmers markets bring to neighborhoods while strengthening relationships with residents, elected officials, community organizations, and funding partners. It is also an opportunity to advocate for food access, support local agriculture and small businesses, encourage research and data collection, and elevate the importance of farmers' markets as essential community assets. Farmers markets preserve farmland, stimulate local economies, increase access to nutritious food, support healthy communities, and promote sustainability.

The Baltimore Farmers’ Market has long served as a small business incubator, launching entrepreneurs who have gone on to become successful brick-and-mortar restaurants, retailers, and food businesses throughout Baltimore. During this year's Farmers Market Week celebration on Sunday, August 2nd, Jasmine Norton, head chef and owner of The Urban Oyster, one such success story, will be welcomed back for a special pop-up highlighting her entrepreneurial journey that began at the Market. The day will also feature cooking demonstrations from 9:00am – 10:00am, live entertainment on the Mayor's Mobile Stage from 10:00am – 1:00pm, and the opportunity to welcome elected officials, civic leaders, and community partners as we begin building excitement for the Market's milestone 50th season.

The Baltimore Farmers’ Market is located underneath the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX I-83) at 400 E. Saratoga Street on Sundays from 7:00am - 12:00pm (quiet hours are 7:00am - 9:00am) from April – December. Beginning on Sunday, August 2nd and the remaining 1st Sundays of the season, hours will extend until 1:00pm to accommodate musical performances. Music at the Market will take place on September 6, October 4, November 1, and December 6.
