The announcement was shared via livestream by Mark Ford, executive director of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.Swift was elected in the contemporary songwriter/artist category during the 20th anniversary year of her self-titled debut album. In a statement read during the livestream, Swift expressed her gratitude to the city of Nashville for validating and prioritizing hard work, determination, and imagination throughout her writing career. Swift said in a statement, "From the time I started writing songs as a child, I fixated on Nashville as the perfect place to be. I wanted to learn with and from the best and get to immerse myself in a community of storytellers, and thankfully Nashville turned out to be exactly what I’d dreamed of. A town that validated and prioritized hard work, determination and imagination. Where the writers show up to work every day even when the mysterious muses and the magic don’t. To be honored by this city I love so much is a beautiful thing, and I’m very grateful."Joining Swift as part of this year's inductees are Lyle Lovett in the veteran songwriter/artist division, Shawn Camp and Lee Thomas Miller in the contemporary songwriter category, and Bruce Channel in the veteran songwriter category.
