    At the age of 21, Australian runner Natasha Ward, who was becoming well-known in middle-distance competitions, passed away. Her death was reported on July 30th by NSW Athletics and the Sutherland District Athletics Club. The cause of death was not revealed by either organization. Ward first gained national recognition at the NSW All Schools Championships, where she won several medals in middle-distance competitions. She maintained that pace when attending Macquarie University in Sydney, where she finished on the podium in the 1500 meters at the 2023 UniSport Nationals. She then won bronze in the 800 meters at the same event
