Colours and Black exhibition. On view until May 31, 2026, the show highlights James’s ongoing exploration of the square as both a compositional device and a symbolic boundary. Notable works such as "Blue Pulse" (2025), "In a Place of Portrait" (2026) and "Summit of Souls" (2026) exemplify his expressive approach, where geometric rigor collides with psychological depth.A graduate of Camberwell College of Arts in London, James has exhibited internationally in London, Paris, as well as New York and is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most compelling voices of his generation. His process begins with writing and notation before evolving into instinctive mark‑making, reflection and re‑entry onto the canvas. While rooted in abstraction, his paintings often incorporate fragmented human figures and psychological traces drawn from personal archives and everyday observations, creating a tension between organic bodily forms and rigid geometric structures.  As he explains, “I often divide the surface of the canvas into four equal quadrants, each functioning as an individual artwork or collectively forming a unified composition.” This method allows him to explore fragmentation, repetition, and cohesion while challenging the viewer’s perception of part versus whole.
