Comedian, author, and New York community basketball legend Joel Walkowski joins Devon on the show this week to call out Prince’s lyrics about sex, pay his respects to RXKNephew, and to talk about the new book he’s written, “Honolulu Blues.” Joel Walkowski is a writer, comedian, ghostwriter, and community organizer whose work brings together memoir, pop culture, and academia in a voice that is both personal and sharply observant. His new book, Honolulu Blues, explores those intersections through a distinctly autobiographical lens. You can buy Joel’s book here: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/163774904X?tag=simonsayscom Walkowski’s background is in comedy, and he remains active on the New York City comedy scene. He also stars in the popular NFL Fan Therapy web series. As a ghostwriter, Walkowski helps prominent individuals transform their experiences and perspectives into compelling memoirs. Outside of writing and comedy, he is perhaps best known as the founder of The Big Walkowski, a basketball tournament that began as a joke and has evolved into a fixture of New York City’s social scene. The event operates as a 501(c)(3) organization and raises funds to support organ donation through LiveOnNY. Walkowski also facilitates sobriety groups and thinks he’s good at it.
