    Lateef Adedimeji (born February 1, 1984) is a Nigerian actor and filmmaker. He rose to prominence after playing his first major role in Yewande Adekoya’s 2013 film Kudi Klepto, and he has been in over 100 Nigerian films since beginning his career 15 years ago. He is presently the brand ambassador for Airtel and Numatville Megacity.

    Adetola Abdullateef Adedimeji was born on February 1, 1984, in Isolo, Lagos State, south-west Nigeria. He is a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    Lateef began his elementary education at Ire Akari Elementary School in Isolo, Lagos State, and later attended Ilamoye Grammar School in Okota, Lagos. He also attended a performance studio workshop in Onikan, Lagos State, where he received instruction in performance.

    His writing and acting skills were also honed at a non-governmental organisation (NGO) (Community Life Project). He graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

    Career

    Lateef Adedimeji began his acting career in 2007 by dancing and enrolling in a dance school. He is an actor and screenwriter who has performed in numerous theatrical roles since the age of 15, but began performing professionally in 2007 when he joined Orisun TV.

    He began acting in secondary school and was selected by an NGO to work as an informer and counsellor during an HIV/AIDS campaign. His role was to teach the public about sexual issues and human rights through video content in which he acted.

    Fans recognise him for playing an emotive character who frequently cries. Over the years, he has been in various Nigerian films alongside well-known actors in the movie industry. He got the 2016 Best of Nollywood Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role (Yoruba).

    In 2015, he was nominated for the City People Entertainment Award for Most Promising Actor. Lateef is generally thought to be connected to the famed Nigerian actor Odunlade Adekola due to their striking similarity and style of humour.

    He was also well-suited to work with UNICEF because of his writing abilities. He was named the face of Nollywood male at the ENigeria Newspaper Night of Honour on October 30, 2021.
