A Nigerian food vendor has cried out for urgent help after mistakenly preparing meals for a client’s event on the wrong date, leaving her with large quantities of unsold food.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the visibly distressed woman appealed to the public to patronise her, explaining that the event was actually scheduled for the following week.

Costly Mix-Up Leaves Vendor in Distress

According to her emotional plea, she had already cooked various dishes ahead of the supposed event, only to realise that she had misread or failed to confirm the correct date.

Good morning, everyone. Please, I’m begging you guys. There’s an event I’m supposed to do for next week.

I mistakenly cooked the food today. I didn’t get a date. I made a mistake.

And these are the meals. Please, you could come and buy. Please, come and buy.

Be comfortable. Come and buy, please. We have a lot.

This is a low price. This is a good sea soup. This fish,” she said.

The video shows the prepared meals displayed in large quantities, as she repeatedly urged people nearby to come and purchase the food at reduced prices.

    Social Media Reactions Pour In

The incident has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many users expressing mixed opinions over the situation.

A user, DeeCan, questioned the approach, suggesting that selling the food in busy areas could have helped salvage the situation.

This must be a content. So, non of you heard about OSHODI or BODIJA? Imagine, any where you are in Lagos, locate OSHODI and see miracle after an hour. In Ibadan, locate bodija market or Iwo road, even in the mid night, there’s still sales,” the user wrote.

However, the same commenter also criticised the vendor’s lack of confirmation before proceeding with the cooking.

What kind of stupidity is this? So before starting she doesn’t call her clients for confirmation or any last minute changes? She was probably rude and difficult to work with, hence the lack of communication,” the comment added.

Another user, Julius Joel, emphasised the importance of maintaining clear communication with clients.

One way I always communicate with any of my clients (not a food vendor tho) is to ask them if there is any last minute change. Once you ask that, you can then chip in the “hope you have not changed your date”,” he noted.

Jay also shared a similar view, stressing that confirmation is essential before executing any job.

How can you start the process without confirming from your client…. Assuming it was a correct date, still confirm from your client, to make sure you’re good to go. My dear, na your mate dey give out free food, you will not die if you do,” the user wrote.
