The Grambling State football offensive coordinator saga continues.

According to a report by Ruston Daily Leader sports editor Matt Belinson, Shyrone Carey, who was named offensive coordinator by Tigers head coach Mickey Joseph on March 18, is no longer on the staff.

A replacement has yet to be named. Whoever Carey’s replacement is, they will be Joseph’s third different offensive coordinator in three seasons on the job. The Tigers begin fall practice July 29.

Carey previously served as wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at Grambling. The former LSU running back also had coaching stops at Langston University, Lincoln University and Virginia State.

Former Prairie View and Southern head coach Eric Dooley led Grambling’s offense in 2024, while Carey and Joseph both oversaw offensive duties last season.

Grambling’s offense ranked eighth overall in the SWAC in scoring averaging 24.1 points per game, and 10th in total yards per game (317.4 per game).
