Netflix has officially brought Color Book to a wider audience, giving the independent drama starring Will Catlett a major platform after the film built momentum through its festival run. The emotionally grounded feature centers on Lucky, a recently widowed father trying to navigate grief while raising his son Mason, a young boy with Down syndrome. Set across Metro Atlanta, the story follows their journey to attend Mason’s first baseball game, turning a simple outing into a moving portrait of family, healing, and perseverance. The film has drawn praise for its intimate storytelling approach and striking black-and-white cinematography.

Behind the camera, Color Book was written and directed by David Fortune, winner of AT&T’s Untold Stories annual pitch competition, marking his feature directorial debut. Fortune developed a reputation through directing fellowships and industry development programs before stepping into long-form storytelling with this project. The film represents a significant breakthrough for the filmmaker, with many critics highlighting his ability to deliver a nuanced and emotionally resonant story centered on Black fatherhood and family dynamics.

The producing team includes Kristen Uno, Kiah Alexandria Clingman, and Autumn Bailey-Ford, who helped bring the independent feature to life. Executive producers on the project include Naturi Naughton, Xavier ā€œTwoā€ Lewis, Korstiaan Vandiver, and Tyler Edgarten. Their involvement helped support a film that has steadily evolved from an independent passion project into a title now positioned for global visibility through Netflix.

The cast also features Jeremiah Daniels, Brandee Evans, Terri J. Vaughn, and Kia Shine alongside Catlett. For many viewers, Color Book could become another example of a festival favorite finding a second life on streaming, while also strengthening Catlett’s growing profile as a dramatic lead.
