    Basement People, directed by Christine Swanson and introducing Rylee Davis in a supporting role alongside Tonya Baltimore, Aiden Barns, Jacky Clark-Chisholm, Milauna Jackson, Marcus LaRon, Bryson Steen, Sage Oriel Ward, Montae Willis, Deborah Joy Winans, and Bobby Gambrel, has been selected to screen at the 30th annual American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach. The film will be showcased on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at O Cinema, followed by a conversation featuring Swanson, Shanti Das, and moderator Imara Canady.

    The emotional drama centers on themes of childhood vulnerability, generational trauma, and the pursuit of safety as a family struggles to rebuild stability. In addition to its ABFF screening, Basement People is also scheduled to appear at the Dayton Black Women’s Film Festival taking place May 21–24 in Ohio.
