A PIECE OF GROUND is a documentary exploring land, memory, and belonging in post-apartheid South Africa. A Piece of Ground will be screened on Friday, April 3 (7PM) at the Maysles Documentary Center, 343 Malcolm X Boulevard, in New York City.

Through personal stories and historical reflection, the film traces how spatial injustice continues to shape everyday life – long after the formal end of apartheid.

Moving between past and present, it invites viewers to consider how land is not only a material question, but a deeply human and spiritual one.

At its heart, the film asks: what does it mean to truly belong, and what might justice look like in a landscape still marked by dispossession?
