Back-to-school season is officially here, and ESSENCE has your official Parent Playbook! Even if you’re not a parent of a school-aged child, this post is for you. Studies show that Black teachers have a lasting impression on their students of all races! Representation matters. We’ve rounded up some of the most informative, impactful and inspiring Black educators to follow on Instagram. These are intentional teachers who seem to genuinely care for their students and their families, and they have the content to prove it. Sometimes it is book recommendations, other times they are suggesting ways to help students better grasp a math concept. Located across the country in major cities like Atlanta, the Bay Area and Chicago, they are powerfully leading students in our communities from pre-school through 12th grade.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. So, whether the student in your life is still in the pre-school stage or approaching their last year of high school, all these teacher accounts are worth your time and maybe even a follow. Just be sure to tell ’em ESSENCE sent ya!
