NEW YORK — On Monday night, Paige Bueckers, A’ja Wilson, and Angel Reese made an impact at the 2026 Met Gala in New York City. Their attendance showcased how rapidly women’s basketball is growing and how its influence is reaching far beyond the basketball court.

Bueckers played her part in bringing the conversation about Dallas to the Met Gala as the Dallas Wings guard made her debut at the event this past week, days before the Wings travel to Indianapolis to start their regular season. She wore a black suit by Coach complemented with paintbrush stroke detail, which adhered to the “Fashion Is Art” theme of the night.

Dallas’ Rookie on the Red Carpet

For Dallas, her appearance carried weight. Bueckers enters her second WNBA season as the reigning Rookie of the Year, with a full year of professional experience behind her. Her first season brought more attention to the Wings, and this season brings another layer of interest with the arrival of Azzi Fudd, a new head coach, a reshaped roster and a new staff around the franchise. Her Met Gala debut added to that visibility before the franchise opens their season with higher expectations and a wider spotlight.

Aces’ Wilson Shines in Prabal Gurung

Twenty-four hours after facing the Wings to end the preseason in Austin, A’ja Wilson, who was also a member of the Host Committee for the 2026 Met Gala, also made her Met Gala debut. The Las Vegas Aces star wore a metallic gold Prabal Gurung gown.

Wilson’s presence showed the stature of the league. She arrived not only as one of the WNBA’s most decorated players, but as someone with standing in one of fashion’s most exclusive spaces. Her role on the Host Committee made the moment feel larger than just a red carpet appearance.

    Reese Returns to the Met

Angel Reese made her third consecutive appearance in a pink, sculptural Altuzarra gown with a thigh-high slit.

Reese is one of the clearest examples of how WNBA players are building influence through fashion, media, branding, and personality.

The night also included several other female athletes. Venus Williams served as one of the event’s co-chairs, while Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka added to the tennis presence. Olympic standouts Alysa Liu, Lindsey Vonn and Eileen Gu were also among the athletes in attendance, showing how women across basketball, tennis, figure skating and skiing had space at one of fashion’s biggest events.

The message is clear. The WNBA has empowered stars who are making an impact off the court, and this year’s Met Gala showed how much room women’s basketball, and women’s sports in general, now occupy in mainstream culture.
