Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has publicly addressed reports of a training-ground altercation with teammate Federico Valverde, insisting claims that he punched the Uruguayan were untrue.

The French international spoke for the first time about the incident that reportedly took place at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex, where speculation suggested a confrontation between the two midfielders resulted in Valverde requiring medical treatment.

Speaking to Spanish media, Tchouameni acknowledged that an incident had occurred but dismissed several of the stories that emerged in its aftermath.

    Tchouameni rejects punch claims

“Obviously, things happened, you could see and hear it in the media,” Tchouameni said, as quoted by Diario AS.

“It was blown out of proportion because it was in the news, and when you play for Real Madrid, that creates a huge reaction. A lot of nonsense was said in the press. I read that there was a fight and that I had punched him… which wasn’t the case. I won’t go into more detail.”

Reports had claimed Valverde was taken to hospital for stitches following the incident, while both players were allegedly fined by the club.

However, Tchouameni stressed that the situation had been handled internally and that there is no lingering tension between the pair.

    Midfielder insists relationship remains strong

“The most important thing is that the club was aware of what happened,” he added.

“There are many things that happen in the dressing room that don’t make it into the press. Life goes on. Fede and I have a common goal: to win titles with Real Madrid.”

“There are no problems. And if I face him in the World Cup, we’ll be eager to win with the French national team. On a personal level, there are no problems with Valverde right now.”

Valverde had earlier described the episode as a learning experience, without discussing specific details.

The controversy attracted significant attention in Spain, although Real Madrid officials reportedly viewed the leak of the incident as a bigger issue than the confrontation itself.

Club president Florentino Perez previously suggested dressing-room disagreements are not uncommon, while emphasising concerns over how details reached the public domain.
