Ruff Ryders TV & Film has officially announced the launch of the inaugural RuffWriters International Writing Contest, a global competition created to discover and elevate emerging and established storytellers across multiple creative disciplines. Under the theme “Write or Die,” the annual initiative celebrates original voices while connecting talented writers with professional development and entertainment industry opportunities.

Open to writers worldwide, the competition welcomes entries in Feature Screenplays, Television Pilots, Short Screenplays, Short Stories, Poetry, Spoken Word, Creative Essays, Documentary Treatments, Feature Film Treatments, Television Series Treatments, Music Video Treatments, and Commercial Treatments. Participants must be at least 18 years old or have parental or legal guardian consent.

The Grand Champion will receive $1,000, a championship trophy, official champion badge, a featured interview, a professional story evaluation, and a virtual pitch opportunity with Ruff Ryders TV & Film. Additional awards include Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), Top 10 Finalist recognition, and a People’s Choice Award selected through public voting.

Following the initial judging round, the Top 10 finalists will be announced, with the Top 3 advancing to the exclusive RuffWriters Creator Challenge, where finalists will develop original work from a confidential creative brief provided by Ruff Ryders TV & Film. Writers retain ownership of their original contest submissions, while Creator Challenge projects will be governed by a separate written agreement.
Submissions must be original, unpublished, submitted as PDFs, and formatted according to standard screenplay or manuscript guidelines. To ensure anonymous judging, entrants should not include their names within the manuscript. AI-generated entries are prohibited; however, limited AI assistance for grammar, spelling, or formatting is permitted if disclosed, provided the creative work remains the entrant’s own.

Entry fees are $15 during the Early Bird period (August 1–10), $20 during Regular Entry (August 11–25), and $30 during Late Entry (August 26–September 1). Each submission requires a separate entry fee. Entries will be evaluated on originality, storytelling, creativity, structure, character development, dialogue, emotional impact, overall writing quality, and commercial potential.

The 2026 competition opens August 1, with submissions closing on September 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Judging takes place September 2–20, the Top 10 Finalists will be announced September 25, the Creator Challenge runs September 26–October 10, People’s Choice Voting will be held October 11–18, and all winners will be announced on October 24, 2026.
