Oschino Vasquez joins Carisha Diva for Act III: INFLUENCE of Live With Carisha — and this conversation goes far beyond hip-hop. Live from Philadelphia, the State Property and Roc-A-Fella veteran opens up about his journey from the streets and prison to signing with Jay-Z, building a career in hip-hop, becoming a successful content creator, monetizing YouTube, creating independent music, and discovering another source of income through his artwork. Oschino takes Carisha back to the moment his life changed: traveling to New York, getting in front of Jay-Z and earning a record deal on the spot. He explains why he barely negotiated his first contract, what it was like suddenly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars at 21, touring around DMX and Ruff Ryders, appearing in State Property, and eventually learning the difference between being famous and actually being PAID. But this episode gets much deeper. Oschino speaks candidly about his complicated feelings toward Jay-Z, fatherhood, his relationship with his children, losing time while incarcerated, and the painful reality of his son currently serving a 20-to-40-year prison sentence. He reflects on how his own past may have influenced the next generation and why children often follow what their parents demonstrate instead of what they tell them. He also explains how prison forced him to confront himself, attend anger-management and behavioral programs, learn forgiveness and rethink what it actually means to be a man. Then Oschino turns his attention to Charleston White — and he DOES NOT hold back. He explains exactly why he has an issue with Charleston, addresses comments involving Gillie Da Kid and other fallen figures in hip-hop, and gives his perspective on where entertainment and trolling cross the line. Carisha and Oschino also get into: • His relationship with Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella • Signing his first record deal at 21 • State Property and the legendary Philly rap era • Why State Property still doesn’t own its masters • Dame Dash and the economics of major-label deals • Making money independently vs. chasing fame • How he turned YouTube into a serious income stream • Why consistency matters more than expensive production • Charleston White and their ongoing issues • Gillie Da Kid and boundaries in hip-hop • His son receiving a 20-to-40-year prison sentence • Losing another son and reflecting on fatherhood • Being shot nine times and surviving Philadelphia • Growing up in foster care and juvenile placements • Learning forgiveness while incarcerated • His thoughts on violence among young men in Philadelphia • Why jobs and mentorship can help change communities • Becoming an artist and creating hundreds of paintings • Memphis Bleek and activism • Reality television and Black entertainment • Women, relationships and why Oschino says “women are the prize” • Beyoncé, Jay-Z and their relationship • LeBron James and the GOAT debate • The current Philadelphia rap scene • Why ownership can matter more than mainstream fame • The difference between the Oschino people see online and the man behind the persona Through all the controversy, Oschino’s message is ultimately about survival, accountability and refusing to give up. “I don’t want to be a pity story.” From foster homes and prison cells to Roc-A-Fella, State Property, entrepreneurship, independent music, YouTube and art, Oschino explains why the pain he experienced became fuel — and why he wants the next generation of men to understand that their circumstances don’t have to determine where their story ends.
