Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has dismissed speculation of a fallout between himself and his former running mate, Peter Obi.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Inside Source programme with Laolu Akande, Baba-Ahmed stated that no one would be able to create problems between him and Obi despite their current political differences.

“Let me say that nobody will cause a problem between me and my boss, Peter Obi.

He can be in any party today. I still have respect for him as someone who governed Anambra State, as someone who doesn’t give the ‘shi-shi’, and we have mutual respect for each other, so nobody will come between us,” he said.

The comments come amid growing speculation about the relationship between the two politicians following their decision to pursue different political paths ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed, who was Obi’s running mate under the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has since aligned with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Despite their separate political affiliations, Baba-Ahmed maintained that his relationship with Obi remains cordial, seeking to put to rest rumours that the former running mates have become political adversaries.
