One of the prosecution’s most important witnesses in Lil Durk’s federal trial is getting no benefit of the doubt from Meek Mill. After OTF Jam spent two days testifying about his own criminal history and implicating Durk in the 2022 shooting meant for Quando Rondo, Meek dismissed him as someone jurors should not trust.

“Jam was killing his community and robbing at will,” Meek wrote on X, before taking aim at Jam’s decision to cooperate against someone he says he still cares about. Meek called him “the definition of a heathen” and added, “I wouldn’t believe a word he says.”

The post arrived after particularly complicated testimony from Jam, whose real name is Kacey Hester. Jam told jurors Thursday (August 27) that he still has “a lot of love” for Durk and feels bad about testifying against him, but said he no longer respects the rapper. “I know he probably hate me,” he said in court. His cooperation began after his own 2023 gun arrest, when he reached out to authorities and indicated that he had information about murders.

    A Detailed Testimony

Jam has not presented himself to the jury as an uninvolved observer. He has admitted his own participation in violent crimes and pleaded guilty in connection with the August 2022 attack that killed Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. On the stand, he identified Durk as a participant in the alleged plot to kill Quando Rondo and testified that the rapper wanted retaliation after King Von’s death. Quando survived the Los Angeles shooting. Robinson, his cousin, was killed.

That history makes Jam’s credibility one of the central fights of the trial. Prosecutors are asking jurors to believe cooperating witnesses who admit they were part of the alleged conspiracy, while Durk’s attorneys have emphasized that those same men could benefit from helping the government. During opening statements, the defense argued that Durk had nothing to do with the shooting and accused cooperating witness Kavon “OTF Vonnie” Grant of organizing the plot himself. Jam, Grant and Keith Jones have all pleaded guilty and agreed to testify for prosecutors.

Durk has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges against him. Prosecutors allege he financed the attempt on Quando Rondo’s life as retaliation for King Von’s 2020 killing, while his defense maintains that the cooperating witnesses are shifting responsibility toward the most famous defendant in the case.
