SummaryMagnum Photos and The Photographers' Gallery join for a new Square Print Photo saleThemed Odyssey, the over-100 works up for grabs explore ideas of discovery, journey and changeThe sale runs until March 29, with each 6 x 6” print starting at $110 USDMagnum Photos teamed up with London-based Photographers’ Gallery to launch Odyssey, their ongoing Square Print Sale. Featuring over 100 works by Martin Parr, Daido Moriyama, Eve Arnold, Steve McCurry, Alice Mann and more, the collection serves as a waypoint into questions of journey and discovery, to ask: where have we been; where are going?“Odyssey considers photography as a sustained act of looking,” said Michael Sargeant, Magnum’s Global Digital Director. “It speaks to journeys undertaken, sometimes perilously, as in Homer’s epic poem, sometimes unfolding through long-term engagement with people, places and ideas.”Several standouts take a journalistic tone, chronicling the conflicts and events that shaped our collective future. Take for example Peter van Agtmael’s photo of an American soldier in Iraq, as part of his 2006 series “2nd Tour, Hope I Don’t Die,” or Larry Towell’s capture of a dazed New Yorker picking up a paper blown out of the World Trade Center in the aftermath of 9/11.Elsewhere, photographers take a more inward turn to illuminate personal reckonings, from epic journeys to our most intimate showcases of affection states. Additional highlights from the curation include Parr’s first posthumous sale — a winding queue at St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, UK; an image of Mann’s joyous Drummies; a cascading, pastel mirror nude from Juno Calypso and two boys en route to Huancayo, Peru by Jim Goldberg.“It is a great chance to bring together talented artists with different perspectives on what ‘odyssey’ means to them,” wrote Shoair Mavlian, the director of The Photographers’ Gallery, which the sale will benefit. “The Square Print Sale opens up opportunities for more people to own exceptional photography and be inspired by its power to move us, inspire us and bring us together.”Each photograph will be available to purchase a limited-edition 6 x 6” print during the Square Print Sale, which runs through March 29.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
