Charles Born and Martha Ehinome keep things fun in this interview with Nollywire for their upcoming film ‘Remi and Nneoma’, directed by Lyndsey Efejuku. But they also get surprisingly honest.

From joking about barely sharing scenes to breaking down their characters, the pair touch on one idea that stands out: choosing yourself.

“You hardly ever see that,” Charles says, reflecting on Martha’s character as Oprah, one of Nneoma’s daughters-in-law who walks away in this Nigerian retelling of the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi. “Someone just saying, ‘I’m going to choose me.'”

The conversation moves quickly from there to love (which they agree can make you do “crazy things”) and loss, which Martha calls something “everyone will have to experience”.

It’s thoughtful, funny, and very real without ever feeling heavy.

Watch the full conversation below to catch all the moments, including their take on judgement and the story that inspired the film.

‘Remi and Nneoma’, a Five2 Entertainment film distributed by Nile Entertainment, starts showing in cinemas on June 26, 2026.
