On Wednesday evening at London’s most prestigious music venue, one name buzzed in the air. Kojey Radical – the multi-talented master of rap, poetry, art and fashion – made his headline debut at the Royal Albert Hall in a milestone moment of his career. “This means so much to me”, he shared with us, not long after setting foot on the historical stage. “It’s been a journey to get here and I wanna take in every moment.” The tone was set and a deeply memorable, star-studded night unfolded.

During a passion-filled two-hour set, the East London native took us on a trip through the winding terrain of his discography. When watching him live, it’s clear that Kojey Radical’s aura is what truly sets him apart. His relentless energy set the room alight as he commanded the stage, performing tracks from 2019’s Cashmere Tears to 2022’s career-defining album Reason To Smile, and the humble masterpiece that is his latest offering, 2025’s Don’t Look Down.

The stage was a playground where all of this music came to life. And “Championoooo!” intermittently rang in the air as the Gunners’ fan belted into the mic, reminding us of his Arsenal’s Premier League victory the night before.

This wasn’t actually the first time that Kojey Radical has performed at the Royal Albert Hall – in 2019, he supported Grime veteran Kano. Whilst reflecting upon that unforgettable opportunity, Kojey showed love for his own support act, UK R&B-soul songstress Jaz Karis, who blessed us with her sugar-sweet vocals prior to the main man’s arrival.

And if the power of his presence as a solo artist wasn’t enough, Kojey was joined by an endless list of guest stars throughout the night. This included Wretch 32, Mahalia, Bawo, Cristale, MNEK, Cashh, Shakka and the roof-raising Ezra Collective, to name just a few. This all-star line-up transformed the occasion from a display of Kojey’s unique artistry to a celebration of community, creative collaboration and some of our finest UK talent.

There were several standout moments within a hefty setlist, but it would be remiss not to pull out a few highlights. Take the electrifying performance of 2019 track “Cashmere Tears” that transitioned smoothly into 2025’s “Rule One”, thus fusing old and new. The powerful rendition of “War Outside” with Lex Amor, which Kojey dedicated to Palestine in solidarity.

There were the sentimental renditions of “Gangsta” dedicated to Kojey’s mother, and “Baby Boy” dedicated to his son, with both beloved family members being found in the audience and given their time to shine. And a heartfelt performance of “Everyday”, where the palpable energy in the room and sea of twinkling, swaying phone lights brought Kojey Radical to tears.

In further moments of vulnerability, Kojey opened up with candid moments of reflection about the struggles on his journey. Recently, he has genuinely thought about taking a step back from music altogether. But last Wednesday night at the Royal Albert Hall, Kojey Radical remembered exactly why he does what he does. With his inimitable aura, resilient spirit and captivating domination of that prestigious stage, it was clear that he had every right to be there.
