    Controversial street-hop artist Portable stirs conversation about generational shifts in the Nigerian music industry, urging established acts to make room for emerging talents.

    In a statement delivered in pidgin during a livestream with Whitemoney, Portable argued that every generation benefits from those before them stepping aside.

    He cited earlier figures such as D’banj, Don Jazzy, Flavour, and KCee, noting that their era created opportunities for stars like Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy to rise.

    He further referenced Timaya as an example of an artist who made space for others, urging current industry leaders to do the same.

    According to Portable, refusing to allow new talents to thrive could lead to being pushed aside by the next wave of artists.

    “Before people dey, people don dey o. If to say the likes of D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Flavour, KCee no Comot for road for Wizkid, Davido, Olamide and Burna, how them go pass? Make them leave road for us. Them Timaya give Una road, make Una Comot road for us. If you stand for road wey you no allow people waka, them go pursue you Comot. Na wetin dey they do for their Davido, Olamide and them Wizkid”
