Social media personality and self-proclaimed relationship expert, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has revealed that she has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after being arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The influencer disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday following her appearance before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to Blessing CEO, she pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her after spending 26 days in EFCC detention.

She stated that she had been transferred to Kirikiri Correctional Centre while awaiting the completion of her bail conditions.

“I have now been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Center pending when I perfect my bail,” she wrote.

    Blessing CEO speaks on allegations

Addressing the accusations, Blessing CEO claimed that some of the issues stemmed from tenancy-related disputes involving N36 million and N69 million. She maintained that she had never sold any property through her office.

She also referred to a separate matter linked to donations allegedly received after claims that she was battling cancer. According to her, she would provide a full account of the situation once legal proceedings are concluded.

The social media figure noted that this is not her first experience at the correctional facility. She recalled being remanded there in 2022 over allegations connected to defamation and cyberbullying.

Despite the legal battle, she expressed confidence that the outcome would eventually favour her. She also thanked supporters for their encouragement and requested continued prayers.

    EFCC files fresh fraud charges

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission announced on Wednesday that Blessing CEO had been arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on fresh allegations involving an alleged N13 million fraud.

The anti-corruption agency said she faces a six-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretences and retaining funds suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.

According to the commission, the case arose from petitions submitted by individuals and organisations, including the Nigeria Cancer Society.

The EFCC alleged that members of the public donated money to Blessing CEO after she made social media posts claiming she was suffering from Stage 4 breast cancer and required financial assistance for treatment.

Investigators further alleged that documents presented in support of the cancer claims were later discovered to be falsified.

    Court orders remand pending bail

Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to all charges when she appeared before the court.

Following the arraignment, the court ordered that she be remanded in custody pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions. The matter was subsequently adjourned for further hearing.
