A man has stirred conversation on social media after revealing details of a private conversation he had with a friend shortly before the friend’s wedding in Abuja.

According to the man, the groom shared his reasons for proceeding with the marriage during a discussion held a day before the ceremony.

The revelation has since attracted attention online, with many users debating the role of love, commitment and personal values in marriage.

While the wedding went ahead as planned, the account shared by the man’s friend has generated mixed reactions among internet users.

    Groom’s confession

Recounting the conversation, the man claimed the groom admitted that romantic love was not the primary reason behind his decision to marry his bride.

My friend and his wife got married today here in Abuja. According to him, he told me yesterday that he isn’t marrying his wife because he really loves her but because she is a good girl and a virgin. That she doesn’t have the kind of body he likes in a woman.”

The remarks quickly sparked discussion online, with some questioning the foundation of the marriage and others noting that different people prioritise different qualities when choosing a spouse.

    Reactions trail wedding revelation

The man further claimed that the groom had expressed concerns about his ability to remain faithful in the marriage.

He also said that he knows he won’t be loyal to his wife but he just wants to keep her because she is good.”

Despite the comments, the man expressed hope that the marriage would succeed and that the groom’s perspective would change over time.

“I wish them all the best and I hope he gets a change of heart and chooses to love her and be loyal to her instead. Happy married life to both of them
