A Nigerian woman, Nkechinyere Cecilia Mbanaso, has cried out online after allegedly discovering that her husband had been earning ₦430,000 monthly instead of the ₦200,000 salary he claimed to receive.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the married woman, a mother of 3, narrated how she had supported the family financially for years because she believed her husband was struggling to make ends meet.

Wife recounts husband’s salary claims

According to her, her husband works as a caterpillar driver for a construction company and began complaining about his low salary in 2023.

She said he initially reduced the family’s feeding allowance from ₦100,000 to ₦70,000, claiming his income had become insufficient.

Over time, she said, he gradually increased the feeding allowance, explaining that his salary had also increased from ₦130,000 to ₦150,000 and later to ₦200,000.

Accident allegedly exposes truth

She revealed that she discovered the alleged truth after her husband was involved in an accident in June.

She claimed she struggled to raise money for his treatment after he told her they needed ₦650,000 for hospital bills, adding that a friend had contributed ₦400,000 while she sourced the remaining ₦250,000 with help from her siblings.

However, during a visit from some of her husband’s colleagues, she alleged that they informed her that the construction company had already paid his hospital bills.

She further alleged that the colleagues revealed her husband had actually been earning a monthly salary of ₦430,000, contrary to the ₦200,000 he had told her.

In her words: “I’m a married woman with 3 kids,  my husband is working in one construction company as  caterpillar driver .

In 2023 my husband started complaining of the low sa1ary they are paying him and how the company reduces him m0ney instead of increasing it, he even claimed to stop the job but I told him no he can’t  stay without doing anything he should be managing it.

So instead of  the normal 100k he was giving for feeding he reduced it to 70k. So I was adding it up.

I have a provision shop my siblings helped me to open in 2022.

In 2024, my husband increase the amount to 85k  saying they have added something in his sal@ry because he told them he will stop work. So according to him the s@lary is now 150k before it was 130k .  I was grateful to him even though the m0ney is never enough for 5 of us but I was helping out.  Most times I’m the one paying the kids school fees  .  Till 2025 my husband started  increase the feeding money and other expenses to 130k. Jesus I was so grateful and happy  then he told me they are now paying him a 200k.

He said I should just be managing the 130k let him keep 70k for his self.  I was honestly feeling for him.  So later  asked him to be taking the 30k on top and give me 100k while I continue helping out . At times he will ask me to call my siblings for help.

This year April my husband increase the amount to 170k saying he knows things has increased in the market . he will be looking like someone that is over sűffëring and his w0rld is about to end.

Most time he will sit in a corner of the house acting like someone who is thinking or cřÿing, if I ask what is the problem he will say is this how he will continue will the little earning.  I kept on feeling for him.

Till  june last month when my husband had acc1dent  I was running up and down for m0ney   to pay h0spital bill he was watching me and even told me is  better he d1e and rest I was so an.gry of him saying that .

Later he told me that a friend has helped him with 400k he ask if I have 250k because we are looking for 650k . So I helped him after asking my siblings for help.  But I was aʼngry that the company didn’t help out. And I never knew they did.

It was that same month while his colleagues came visiting I started complaining to some of them how bãɗ I feel with the company and also how w0rried my husband is . That was when I was told but is the company that paid for the hospital bill and my husband earn 430k as salary.  I was sh0cked and feel cheãţed but I decided to hold my @nger while waiting for this month to bring his 150k to take care of 5 people.

This is not faiř at all  have been thinking what to do to him in other for him to pay me back everything I have spent so far . Already my love for him is now dropping the moment I found out the truth.

Seeing him now makes me aŋgřy honestly don’t know what to do.

I have not been eating well since last month I totally lost appetite for food.
