Breaking out of Las Vegas’ crowded entertainment landscape is no easy feat, but rising artist Fayzone is carving out his own lane. Born and raised in the city known for its bright lights and superstar residencies, Fayzone has embraced the diversity of his hometown while developing a sound that blends nostalgia, experimentation and heartfelt storytelling. His latest single, “Custom Mixtape,” showcases that approach, pairing clever songwriting with a personal concept that pays tribute to classic love songs.

The emerging artist recently teamed up with Las Vegas hip-hop veteran Dizzy Wright for the song’s accompanying video, a collaboration that came together through persistence, respect and a shared connection to their city. As Fayzone continues to build momentum, he’s focused on creating authentic music, expanding his audience and inspiring other artists to trust their vision.

In this interview, Fayzone discusses the challenges of pursuing music in Las Vegas, the story behind “Custom Mixtape,” working with Dizzy Wright, his dream collaborations and what fans can expect next.

Q: Being from Las Vegas, what are some of the obstacles when trying to break into the music business? How is the local support?

Fayzone: In my opinion, the biggest obstacle is competing with the Strip. Las Vegas has established itself as the entertainment capital of the world, and most of that entertainment is centered there. With major artists performing every night and world-famous shows happening constantly, it’s extremely difficult to break through that noise and get people to focus on you. That said, the local music scene is very supportive. It’s a close-knit community where artists help and push one another. Overall, I think it’s great.

Q: Are you originally from Las Vegas? Describe the local music scene.

Fayzone: Yes, I am—born and raised. The local music scene is very diverse because Las Vegas is such a melting pot. There are people here from all over the world, and that diversity is reflected in the music. It creates a unique environment where different styles and influences come together in the best way.

Q: Describe the hype Fayzone brings to the music industry. What sets you apart from other artists?

Fayzone: I think I bring a sound that feels nostalgic while also feeling fresh and experimental. I’m not afraid to blend genres to create the sound I want for a song, while still delivering lyrics that connect on a deeper level.

Q: You recently dropped a video with Dizzy Wright. How did that collaboration come about? The video is a bop.

Fayzone: Honestly, Dizzy was extremely easy to work with and gave me full creative control over the video. He basically told me to let him know what he needed to do and he’d be there. So I got together with my team, developed a vision for the video, and brought it to life.

Q: How did you link up with Dizzy Wright?

Fayzone: Dizzy is a legend in my city, so I’ve always known I’d love to work with him. When I started creating “Custom Mixtape,” it just made sense. I sent him a DM, and the rest is history.

Q: Tell us about the songwriting process for “Custom Mixtape.”

Fayzone: When it came to writing “Custom Mixtape,” I showed the instrumental to my brother, who I collaborate with on a lot of my songs, and asked what he thought. The first thing he said was that we should call it “Custom Mixtape,” and he explained the concept. From there, I came up with the hook melody. I remember the first standout line being, “I love you front to back…” After that, I built the song around the idea of comparing love to a perfect collection of songs that reminds you of someone. Within the verse, I also wanted to include a few Easter eggs, so I referenced more than 15 love songs, essentially creating a custom mixtape inside the song itself.

Q: Who would you like to work with in the future?

Fayzone: I have so many dream collaborations. I’d love to work with mainstream artists like Justin Bieber, SZA, Usher, and Tyler, The Creator, just to name a few. In the near future, I’d really like to collaborate with ASTN and Larissa Lambert.

Q: What advice do you have for other emerging artists?

Fayzone: Trust yourself, trust your vision, and trust your process. Belief in yourself is one of the most important factors in this business. Let that confidence in yourself and your art drive your success. When you truly believe in what you’re creating, you’ll move with authenticity and conviction. That’s what will take you far because you won’t be holding yourself back. I always say that if you don’t believe in yourself and your art, how can anyone else?

Q: Can fans expect a new single soon? Any upcoming performances?

Fayzone: Absolutely. Fans can expect new music very soon, and I can’t wait to share it. It’s some of the best music I’ve ever made. I also have an upcoming performance with NXTUP MAG this summer, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Q: Where can readers find you online?

Fayzone: Fans can find me on all social media platforms under @notfayzone. My music is available on all major streaming services, and you can also find me on YouTube under Fayzone.
