SummaryLuftgekühlt 2026 took place in Tokyo for the first time everThe event continues its tradition of highlighting the best of community-sourced air-cooled Porsche vehiclesSpecial collaborations were released at the event for attendees only, including NEIGHBORHOOD, Type 7, Leen Customs and moreLuftgekühlt expanded to Asia for the first time, taking over an entire stretch of the KK Line Expressway in Tokyo, Japan. For Luftgekühlt meets, location has always been a priority for the show and a huge component of its success, and this year’s iteration in Japan was no different. Hundreds of classic air-cooled Porsches from private collectors took over the Ginza-adjacent expressway in a visual that included epic skyscrapers, long curved banks and even some moments with the Japan Shinkansen bullet train passing by. The show was absolutely packed with spectators and car fanatics alike, capturing moments with their favorite builds. The KK line was actually decommissioned last year for a future public pedestrian project – similar to the High Line in New York City. Before its new plans however, the 2km-long stretch served Tokyo for over 66 years and is well known among the car community local to Tokyo. Nevertheless, the surreal atmosphere of enjoying parked Porsches on a major expressway speaks volumes towards a curated, carefully-directed aesthetic that falls perfectly in line with previous Luftgekühlt events.Besides the seemingly endless array of classic air-cooled Porsche 911s, a few notable race car iterations made their appearance well known amongst the crowd. The ISEKI 956 stood ground with its own promoted display, while famed racer Tetsu Ikuzawa's Number 28 Porsche 910 racer saw large crowds at its display alongside daughter Mai Ikuzawa's Team Ikuzawa branding. Dual Advan-liveried Porsche 962 C LM race cars also were a popular photo moment, as it cleared the bend in a dramatic fashion.Speaking of fashion, the event also saw the release of limited collaborations, including a long-sleeved Luftgekühlt x NEIGHBORHOOD tee that resulted in hour-long queues. Both Leen Customs and Type 7 also released an exclusive badge, which are always a highly coveted pick-up item for Luftgekühlt attendees.Luftgekühlt 2026 is now complete, but the brand's extension – Air|Water – will take place in Costa Mesa, California on April 25. As the name suggests, Air|Water will display a mix of air-cooled and water-cooled Porsche models, and will be the event's fourth total iteration.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
