Following a concerted security operation in the Alkaleri Local Government Area, the Bauchi State Police Command rescued two kidnapping victims and arrested five suspected kidnappers.

According to police, the victims, a 40-year-old mother and her 25-year-old son, were kidnapped after armed men broke into their home in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District, on June 2.

Following a distress call, security personnel initiated an intelligence-driven investigation, which swiftly led them to suspected members of the abduction group.

On the day of the event, a joint team of police officers, military soldiers, and local vigilantes hunted down and captured three perpetrators in Kuka Village, Duguri District. Further investigations led to the arrest of two more persons alleged to be involved in the crime.

Police said evidence gathered during interrogations assisted investigators in locating the abducted victims, who were found uninjured during a follow-up operation on June 3.

The victims have since received medical care and been reunited with their families.

Authorities stated that all five suspects are still in custody, and the matter has been sent to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for additional investigation.

The command also stated that attempts are ongoing to locate other fleeing members of the gang and recover weapons allegedly used during the abduction.

The successful operation marks another milestone in security authorities’ continuous efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime throughout the state.
