During one of the culture’s biggest weekends in New Orleans, Firstline Brands created a space that felt both elevated and deeply familiar.

On Saturday, July 4, guests gathered at Hotel Saint Vincent for Black Hairitage Bubbles & Brunch, a garden-chic celebration of Black hair culture, beauty rituals, preservation and community.

Presented by Firstline Brands in honor of the company’s 40th anniversary, the all-inclusive brunch experience brought together beauty lovers, tastemakers, entrepreneurs, creatives and culture shifters for an afternoon rooted in legacy and celebration.

The event unfolded as a love letter to Black hair care and the generations of women who have shaped, protected, styled and celebrated it. Guests moved through a curated world of live activations, including the Ritual beauty market, the Bonnets & Beignets café cart, the Refresh Station by Silhouettes + Structure, signature cocktails, hair styling touch-ups, VIP gifting, photo moments and more.

“This event is about uplifting our community — setting aside the economic worries and everyday challenges so our customers can feel truly celebrated and loved,” said Joni Allyn Odum, president and CEO of Firstline Inc., a Houston-based personal care company.

Award-winning singer and actress LeToya Luckett helped anchor the afternoon’s celebratory energy, while Eva Marcille and the featured panelists delivered thoughtful conversation during the Shop Talk panel. From beauty and entrepreneurship to legacy, identity and the cultural significance of Black hair, the panel offered more than surface-level inspiration.

It gave the room language for what many Black women know intimately: Hair is never just hair. It is memory, ritual, self-expression, protection, creativity and power.

Other notable guests in attendance included Victoria Thomas, a retired professional athlete and wellness entrepreneur; acclaimed content creator Jalise Vaughn; and “Zatima” star Danielle LaRoach, who joined the stylish crowd in celebrating Firstline Brands’ milestone moment.

One of the most meaningful elements of the day was the brand’s giveback presentation honoring local Black-owned salons in New Orleans. In a weekend filled with major events, the moment grounded the celebration in legacy and community impact, recognizing beauty professionals who continue to serve as cultural caretakers in neighborhoods across the city.

“Our customers are the reason we’ve stayed in business and remained relevant for 40 years,” Odum said. “This celebration is our way of saying thank you.”

With bonnets, beignets, bubbles, beauty touch-ups and intentional conversation flowing throughout the afternoon, Black Hairitage Bubbles & Brunch struck the right balance between luxury and nostalgia. It was polished without feeling performative, celebratory without losing substance, and glamorous while still centering the everyday rituals that have long connected Black women to one another.

As Firstline Brands celebrates 40 years, the event served as a reminder that true legacy brands do more than sell products. They preserve culture, invest in community and create spaces where beauty is honored as both personal and collective.

“As we mark 40 years in business, our focus is on honoring the people who got us here — our community, our customers and the generations who have grown up with our brands,” Odum said.

That multigenerational thread was felt throughout the afternoon. For many guests, the experience tapped into something beyond beauty trends or product discovery. It reflected the emotional connection Black women often have with the brands that have lived on bathroom counters, in salon stations, in overnight bags and across generations of family care.

“Our brands are woven into family memories — passed down from grandmothers to grandchildren,” Odum said. “That legacy inspires everything we create.”

In New Orleans, Firstline Brands did more than celebrate a milestone. It honored the culture, the customers and the care rituals that made that milestone possible.
