    Order up! Danielle Brooks is gearing up to serve in a new comedy ‘American Comfort’ (working title), currently in the works at Apple TV. The project is based on the life of Harlem native, James Beard Award-nominated chef, and restaurateur, Melba Wilson.

    Set in Harlem, the project centers on the warm hospitality that turned Wilson’s eatery, Melba’s, into a soul food cultural staple deeply loved by the community for over 20 years. Brooks will star as the legendary restaurateur.

    ‘American Comfort’ is written by Kenya Barris, who also executive produces alongside Leyah Barris for Khalabo Ink Society. Danielle Brooks and Melba Wilson executive produce. Oprah Winfrey and Carla Gardini executive produce for Harpo Productions, while Aaron Kaplan executive produces for Kapital Entertainment. Jaiden Kaplan and Dylan Hammalian will co-executive produce for Kapital, with Neema Barnette for Harlem Girl Productions and Aisha Summers-Burke for BET Studios. Jill McGrath (Door 24) and Lauren Tuck at Harpo also executive produce.
