For Cheyenne Davis, back-to-school season has never been just about the outfits. It’s about the confidence that comes with them, and this year, she’s making sure that confidence reaches beyond her own family. With the launch of the SHEIN Back-to-School x Cheyenne Davis collection, the entrepreneur, the mom, and style influencer has curated a lineup of stylish, affordable pieces built for busy school mornings, after-school activities, and everything in between.

But the partnership goes beyond the collection itself. Davis and SHEIN are giving back to members of the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside with a donation of clothing, backpacks, and school supplies, ensuring local students start the year feeling just as prepared and confident as her own kids. ESSENCE caught up with Davis to talk about the inspiration behind the collection, her approach to family style, and why this giveback component mattered so much to her.

This collaboration also includes a back-to-school clothing donation benefiting members of the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside. Why was it important to you that this partnership created a meaningful impact beyond fashion?

Giving back was one of the most important parts of my partnership with SHEIN. As a mom, I know back-to-school season is about helping kids feel confident and prepared for a fresh start, and every child deserves that opportunity. Through our donation of clothing, backpacks, and school supplies to the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside, I wanted this collaboration with SHEIN to make a meaningful impact beyond fashion and help families head into the school year feeling supported.

ESSENCE readers know that confidence often starts with feeling seen and supported. What do you hope the students at the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside take away from receiving these back-to-school essentials as they begin a new school year?

I hope every child walks away feeling confident, valued, and excited for the school year ahead. Sometimes something as simple as putting on an outfit you love can make that first day feel a little less intimidating. I’m grateful that SHEIN and I could be part of helping students start the year with confidence, while also reminding them that they have a community cheering them on.

What made partnering with SHEIN for this Back-to-School collection feel like the right fit for you?

As a mom, I wanted to partner with a brand that understands what families are really looking for during back-to-school season. We were able to create a collection that’s stylish, versatile, and accessible, making it easier for parents to build a wardrobe that works for busy school mornings, recess, after-school activities, and everything in between. It was important to me that families could find pieces that fit their lifestyle without feeling like they needed a separate outfit for every occasion.

What was the inspiration behind the collection, and what story did you want it to tell?

My family was the biggest inspiration behind my SHEIN collection. Every school year is a fresh start filled with new experiences, and I wanted the collection to celebrate kids feeling confident enough to be themselves. Whether they’re getting dressed for a regular school day, showing off their personality on a theme day, or heading to an after-school activity, I wanted the pieces to make getting dressed feel fun instead of stressful. Having my own children be part of the campaign made that story even more personal.

When curating this collection, how important was it to create pieces that allow kids to express their own personalities?

That was one of my biggest priorities with my SHEIN collection. Every child has their own style, so I wanted to create pieces they could mix, match, and make their own. I also wanted parents to have options that work across different parts of the week, from the classroom to the playground to school theme days, so kids can express themselves without needing an entirely separate wardrobe for every occasion.

Do you have a favorite look or standout piece from the collection? How would you style it?

The matching sets are definitely my favorite pieces in my SHEIN collection because they’re such an easy solution for busy families. Kids can wear the set together for an effortless outfit or mix the pieces with other basics to create multiple looks throughout the week. I’d style one with fun sneakers, a lightweight jacket, and a backpack for a look that’s comfortable enough for recess, polished enough for the classroom, and easy to personalize for school events or theme days.

Style doesn’t have to come with a high price tag. Why do you think affordable fashion is especially important for families during the back-to-school season?

Back-to-school shopping can become expensive quickly, especially when you’re shopping for multiple kids. That’s why affordability was so important to me when creating this collection with SHEIN. I wanted families to be able to build a wardrobe of versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, worn throughout the school week, and carried into weekends and special school events. When clothes work in more than one way, parents get more value, and kids get more opportunities to wear what they love.

What was your favorite part of collaborating with the SHEIN team throughout this process?

I really appreciated how collaborative the entire process was. I was able to share my perspective as a mom and focus on creating pieces that families would genuinely reach for every day. Seeing the campaign come to life with my own family made it even more special because it reflects the real moments we experience during back-to-school season, from planning outfits ahead of time to helping kids feel confident wherever the school day takes them.
