During American Black Film Festival week in Miami, Bounce and Scripps Sports Network brought entertainment, sports and culture together for an intimate programming showcase at The Shelborne by Proper in Miami Beach.

The afternoon offered guests a preview of original projects rooted in Black experiences, athletic legacy, personal transformation and cultural visibility. From Olympic champions and women’s track pioneers to viral style icons redefining masculinity after 50, the showcase highlighted how sports and entertainment storytelling continue to intersect in powerful ways.

For Bounce, the gathering reinforced the network’s commitment to programming that centers Black audiences and reflects the range of Black life on screen. The upcoming slate emphasized stories that connected across generations while expanding how identity, success, reinvention and legacy are represented in television and streaming.

One of the featured projects was “Beyond the Curve with Sanya Richards-Ross,” a new conversation series hosted by Olympic gold medalist and television personality Sanya Richards-Ross. Premiering this fall on Bounce and the new Scripps Sports Network streaming service, the series explored what happens after public achievement and how high-performing figures navigate life beyond a defining career moment.

Through one-on-one conversations, Richards-Ross sat down with athletes, entertainers and cultural leaders entering new chapters of their lives. Scheduled guests included Kandi Burruss, Julius Erving, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Lecrae, Kirk Franklin, Jemele Hill, Swin Cash, Shawn Johnson East, Angel McCoughtry, Bomani Jones and more.

The premise felt especially timely as audiences have become more interested in the personal evolution behind public success. With Richards-Ross guiding the conversations, “Beyond the Curve” expanded the sports narrative beyond performance and into identity, purpose, resilience and reinvention.

Women’s sports history also received a major spotlight through “Paving Lanes,” a new original miniseries connected to ATHLOS, the women’s-only professional track and field competition founded by Alexis Ohanian.

The seven-part interview series honored trailblazing women in track and field whose achievements helped create opportunities for today’s athletes. Featured athletes included three-time Olympic gold medalist Valerie Brisco-Hooks, two-time Olympic champion Gail Devers, Olympic gold medalist Lashinda Demus and Olympic champion Dawn Harper-Nelson.

Rather than focusing only on medals and records, “Paving Lanes” examined the sacrifice, determination and barriers behind the victories. The series gave long-overdue visibility to women whose contributions shaped the history and future of the sport.

The project arrived as ATHLOS continued expanding its presence in women’s sports and entertainment. Following its partnership with ION and Scripps Sports for national broadcast distribution, ATHLOS was set to expand internationally with events in London on Sept. 18 and New York City on Oct. 2.

Kayla Green, acting president of ATHLOS, described “Paving Lanes” as an opportunity to honor the women who opened doors for the next generation.

“You can’t understand where women’s track and field is headed without understanding the women who got it here. Paving Lanes tells the stories of the originals — the athletes who broke barriers so the next generation could run through them. There’s no better home for this series than Scripps Sports and ION, a platform that has always championed women’s sports,” Green said.

Award-winning producer Sharí Nycole was also connected to the project, bringing experience from collaborations with ESSENCE, TV One, Will Packer Media, Fox Soul, PBS and Urban One. Her credits include “One Stage to the Next,” “Essence: Black Women in Sports,” “Making of a Woman,” “Sister Circle Live,” “Power Star Live” and “NewsOne Now.”

The showcase also previewed “The Silverfox Squad,” a new Bounce unscripted series produced in partnership with Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and BluSpeed Productions.

Set to premiere in early 2027, the 10-episode series centered on The Silverfoxes, a viral brotherhood of sharply dressed, successful and stylish men over 50. The group included Kendall Gill, Irvin Randle, Winston Warrior, Michael Lynn Johnson Jr., Jean Titus, Stephen Adkins, Tommie “TJ” Johnson, Kyle Dutcher and Darryle Jones.

Positioned as a celebration of the “grown-man glow-up,” the series followed the men as they helped others elevate their style, wellness, confidence and self-image. Its premise challenged narrow portrayals of aging and masculinity while celebrating maturity, reinvention and self-respect with humor and style.

Hartbeat, founded by Kevin Hart, has built a slate of film, television, digital and audio projects grounded in comedy and culture, including “Night School,” “Fatherhood,” “Lift,” “Die Hart,” “Hart to Heart,” “Cold As Balls,” “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “Celebrity Prank Wars.” Its partnership with Bounce on “The Silverfox Squad” extended that cultural footprint into lifestyle-driven unscripted programming.

Collectively, the projects previewed in Miami represented more than a seasonal slate. They reflected a broader shift in entertainment, where Black audiences, women athletes and culturally specific stories were treated as central to the future of television and streaming.

Against the backdrop of ABFF week, a gathering built around celebrating Black storytelling, Bounce and Scripps Sports used the moment to highlight programming that honored legacy while making space for new definitions of success, strength and visibility.

From Olympic history and life after achievement to men embracing their next chapter, the showcase delivered a clear message: culturally grounded storytelling remains one of the most powerful ways to connect audiences, preserve history and imagine what comes next.
