James Clyburn blamed low Black turnout for Kamala Harris' loss. Roland Martin says the numbers matter, but so do the campaign leaders, consultants, donors, and Democratic institutions that failed to build the Black voter operation they needed. Roland Martin did not dismiss the turnout problem. He said Black voters must stop sitting elections out, maximize their political power, and treat 70% turnout as the minimum. But Roland also rejected the idea that Black voters should carry the blame alone. He pointed to a campaign that raised nearly $2 billion while organizers struggled to get resources, rural Black communities were neglected, Black media investment fell short, and consultants continued to control the money and strategy. Roland named campaign officials, donors, outside groups, Democratic committees, and Black consultants who failed to fight hard enough for Black voter investment. He also highlighted restrictive voting laws and the added barriers Black voters faced. His argument was not complicated: Black turnout must improve, but the entire machine around Kamala Harris also failed. The voters who stayed home, the campaign that did not organize them, and the political establishment that underfunded Black outreach all have to answer for the loss. #RolandMartinUnfiltered #BlackStarNetwork #KamalaHarris #BlackVoters #JamesClyburn #DemocraticParty #BlackPoliticalPower #Election2024 Black Star Network Partner: Chapter Chapter and its affiliates are not connected with or endorsed by any government entity or the federal Medicare program.
