In partnership with the East Japan Railway Company, Azumi Japan is expanding its hospitality footprint with the debut of Azuma Farm Koiwai. Located in the stunning landscapes of Japan's Iwate Prefecture, the new brand is designed to celebrate the "Farm Life," promising a deeply immersive and tranquil getaway surrounded by historic mountains and lush nature.Situated within a secluded eight-hectare section of the historic 130-year-old Koiwai Farm, the new property was expertly envisioned by Kyoto-based architect Shiro Miura of Rokkaku-ya. The resort features 24 distinct villa-style guest rooms equipped with intricate wooden interiors that directly mirror the pristine environment. By partnering with the historic farm, the retreat plays a vital role in protecting local agricultural traditions and preserving the surrounding forests. Drawing heavy inspiration from the region's vast natural resources and the deep naturalism found in the works of local poet Kenji Miyazawa, the spatial design perfectly balances rustic charm with meticulous Japanese craftsmanship.Continuing Zecha's legacy of mindful hospitality, the Koiwai outpost shifts focus toward traditional agriculture, seasonal living, and community harmony. The property's amenities, dining experiences, and guided activities—such as immersive horse riding and long walks in the forest—offer guests a chance to experience a soulful, sustainable side of Japan. Visitors can access the secluded retreat via a straightforward Shinkansen journey from Tokyo Station to Morioka Station, followed by a dedicated shuttle service, establishing the resort as a premier gateway to exploring the cultural allure of the Tohoku region.Azuma Farm Koiwai opens April 23, 2026 via official booking channels.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
