Atletico Madrid are considering a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they look to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

The Spanish club are reportedly assessing the possibility of adding two forwards, with Jackson emerging as one of the options under consideration.

The interest comes as Jackson’s position at Chelsea becomes increasingly uncertain under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Jackson left out of final friendly

Jackson was omitted from Chelsea’s squad for their final pre-season match against Real Sociedad, which the Blues won 3-1.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich but failed to secure a permanent move to the German champions.

His loan agreement was reportedly tied to him starting 40 matches, a target he was unable to reach during a campaign in which Harry Kane remained Bayern’s first-choice striker.

Chelsea are now understood to prefer a permanent sale rather than another loan spell for Jackson.

However, the club have yet to receive an offer considered sufficient for the Senegal international, who has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances since joining Chelsea.

    Atletico assess options for attack

Atletico are looking to strengthen their forward line around Julian Alvarez, whose future has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona and Arsenal.

The Spanish side are also seeking additional cover for Alexander Sorloth after the striker suffered a muscle injury.

Jackson’s availability could therefore provide Atletico with an opportunity to add another established forward to their squad.

Chelsea have several other options in attack, with Joao Pedro currently emerging as the club’s leading striker after scoring twice against Real Sociedad.

Liam Delap is also reportedly available for a potential transfer after a disappointing first season following his £30 million move from Ipswich Town.

Chelsea are said to want around £50 million for Delap.

Danny Welbeck has also joined the squad to provide experience and a physical presence in attack, while Emmanuel Emegha offers another option for Alonso.
