As the world turned its attention to Atlanta during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the city seized the opportunity to showcase something that extends far beyond sports, its culture.

Created as part of the city’s World Cup programming, the Atlanta Cultural Exchange was designed to introduce visitors from around the globe to the creativity, traditions, and communities that have shaped Atlanta into one of the world’s leading cultural capitals.

Documenting the Atlanta Impact

For Historically Black Since, that mission aligns perfectly with our own.

As a media company dedicated to documenting HBCU culture, Black history, and the people moving culture forward, we believe Atlanta’s story cannot be told without recognizing the lasting contributions of HBCUs, Black Greek Letter Organizations, Black creatives, educators, and community leaders. While the Atlanta Cultural Exchange celebrated cultures from across the world, our role is to explore one important part of that larger story, which is Black culture continues to influence Atlanta’s identity while connecting with a global audience.

That vision inspired ATL Culture Without Borders, a new editorial series from Historically Black Since that explores the people, traditions, and communities helping define Atlanta’s cultural legacy.

About the Atlanta Cultural Exchange

Produced by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with 10 Squared Agency and Showcase Atlanta, the Atlanta Cultural Exchange featured eight activations throughout June and July that transformed Atlanta into a global cultural stage. Through fireside conversations, international cultural showcases, art exhibitions, and more, visitors experienced the many cultures that make Atlanta unique.

The programming reflected the city’s diversity, featuring everything from performances by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to cultural experiences celebrating Morocco, Spain, and more. Conversations with leaders including Mayor Andre Dickens, Killer Mike, Kenny Burns, and other influential voices highlighted the innovation, and leadership that continue to shape Atlanta.

For Historically Black Since, the Atlanta Cultural Exchange represented more than an event calendar. This activation represented an opportunity to document the stories behind the moments.
